EXCLUSIVE! Use our Adventure App to experience your own self-guided kayaking adventure! Looking for a longer self-guided adventure? This is it! Take this extended adventure to see the local legendary Big Cypress tree! This tree is thought to be well over a hundred years old. Our exclusive self-guided tour includes our Adventure App, which will play as you paddle along Lofton Creek, giving you information about the wildlife and area. Our Adventure App guide is curated for this tour by our University of Florida Certified Master Naturalist. Paddle at your own pace and enjoy this island treasure!

This is our longest self-guided kayak tour of the Amelia Island area. Come kayak Lofton Creek, our most popular area for self-guided kayak tours of Amelia Island thanks to its inland calm waters. The Big Cypress kayak tour will take you through beautiful forested wetlands teeming with native wildlife. You may experience turtles, alligators, red-headed woodpeckers, hawks, and possibly even a pirate or two! While the Big Cypress is the goal destination, you are free to paddle at your own pace, and however far up the creek you get during your tour is totally up to you!

This self-guided kayak tour takes you deeper into the native areas of Lofton Creek, and the deeper in you get, the more challenging it can be! The creek narrows in some areas and can have more natural obstacles to navigate around, such as fallen trees, logs, floating vegetation, etc. The challenge of navigating this more primitive part of the creek can be affected by tide as well. This 3-hour paddle will bring you through the black water lined by cypress trees, sweet gum trees, pine trees, Spanish moss, pickerelweed, duck potato, swamp roses, wild azalea, and so much more.  You will enjoy  your tour on this fresh water creek with the characteristic black or 'stained' water that comes from tannic acid formed as plants decay.  This creates a transparent, acidic water that reflects the scenery around it like a mirror.  This makes for an amazing eco tour and beautiful photographic opportunities.

Because this waterway is protected from the direct coastal elements, it is much more calm, and makes the ideal choice for all skill level of paddlers. Being only minutes from Amelia Island, it makes for the perfect kayak adventure for all groups!
